Announcement of the 47th Annual National Deaf Christian Workshop

Dear Brethren,

This is a very important message regarding the 47th Annual National Deaf Christian Workshop that will be held at Quartz Mountain Christian Camp in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on July 6-11, 2008. Please read this information carefully.

- Only a little more than 270 people are limited at the camp. (Staff and Student campers included). Student campers are the number one priority.

- Only 80 men and 80 women will be accepted. (This does not include Staff, Guest Speakers and Student campers).

- One room is reserved for girl campers and their counselors. Another room is reserved for boy campers and their counselors. (No adult campers can go in except for counselors and directors).

- We hosted the 40th National Deaf Workshop. We had 130+ people attended. This is the second time we host the workshop at the campsite.

- We will only take 9 years old (on or before July 6, 2008) or older can be admitted. No kids under 9 are allowed.

- There are bunk beds in cabins. Adults may sleep either top or bottom. Keep in mind that elderly or physically handicap cannot sleep on top so be sure to sacrifice the bottom bed for them.

- No food or drinks are allowed in cabins (That includes all staff members, too). Water is permitted.

- Weather in Oklahoma is extremely HOT! The average temperature is between 95 and 100 degrees but only about 25% humidity. It won’t feel too hot.

- If the camp is full, you may stay at motels, or lodging outside of camp, but you are also responsible for your own meals. The camp is unable to provide food for outsiders due to the limited capacity of people. You may attend activities or worship services.

- There is plenty of space for parking your vehicle. - The full three regular meals to be served at camp, no special or diet food.

We are willing to keep the workshop going every year. No church would host 2008 workshop so we offered to have the workshop at the camp. We regret any inconvenience but it is better than not having any workshop in 2008. The rules are necessary. It is vital that everyone including staff follow the camp rules. If the rules are broken frequently, this camper will be kicked out of the camp on his/her own expenses. Please share this information to the Deaf members of your congregation.

Please share this to anyone interested in going to the camp/workshop by end of this month. Please do let us know that you have already shared this information to the brethren. Please reply to Chris Nipper, (chrisnipper@deafchristiancamp.org) and Hal Suddreth, (halsuddreth@deafchristiancamp.org). We do have the camp website. You need to print the registration form from the camp website and fill it out. Please mail the forms and check by June 7, 2008.

Note: Once you get the registration form, you must pay in full with money order or check by June 7, 2008. Paid registrations arrived on or before June 7, 2008, will be accepted on first come, first served basis. You will be informed if you are accepted into the camp or the camp is already full.

See you There This Summer!
